APPROACH

I take a collaborative approach in helping patients and families achieve their goals, which begins with a full evaluation process that can last from one to a few sessions, until we have reached an understanding of what the difficulties are and can discuss recommendations. I believe strongly in treatment in the context of a whole person and seek to work with patients to broaden their range of emotional and cognitive experience, gain insight into their psychological functioning, and make improvements in their qualities of life.

ABOUT ME

I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design. A background that connected me to the personal and societal dynamics that influence individuals. The tonal experience of art was complimented with science through post baccalaureate studies in premedical sciences at Rutgers University. I completed medical training at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

In 2008, I moved to NYC for psychiatry residency at Mt Sinai, Beth Israel, and continued training at New York Presbyterian’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship through Colombia and Weill Cornell Medical schools.

Since completing training in 2013, I have balanced public sector work with teaching fellows at Columbia and private practice. I continue to bring art into my practice and work on related projects through the NEA and the Penumbra Foundation.
